"Growing up in the pine barrens of New Jersey, I think it's had a great influence on me and also the way that I build a composition. A sort of seclusion in a “barren” yet very busy and lively setting. Once I have a drawing for a painting, I have a good idea of how I want to break the composition into pieces then move to the canvas and paint in acrylic to have the freedom of making many decisions over and over again. Working steadily, moving around the canvas. While this dries, this gets painted and so on. It is the object. Relationships and surroundings. What interests me is going to be my subject and quite possibly a series of works. I paint what I am passionate about and I am passionate about painting."
