Samuel Jernigan is a californian artist who was born in Lake Charles, Lousiana and raised in central California. Initially coming to the visual arts through clay and ceramics his artistic career began autodidactically working as a production potter for the historic Hans Sumpf Co INC and as a fabricator for studio artists, such as ceramic sculptor Stan Bitters.
Jernigan received his BFA in ceramics at California State University, Long Beach and his MFA in ceramics at University of California, Los Angeles. His work has been included in several exhibitions including Praxis, (2018) and Open Space, James Wright Gallery (2019). Jernigan currently lives and works in Los Angeles where he's focused on unique and progressive material practices.
